Purano Pokhara (old Pokhara) is about 4 km north of Lakeside. The old streets feature Newari houses with decorative brickwork and elaborately carved wooden windows, resembling old houses in Kathmandu. The Bhimsen Temple, a shrine dedicated to the Newari god of trade and commerce dating back 200 years, is adorned with erotic carvings.
